Corfu, Greece
Friday, November 10, 2000

This is Friday afternoon and we are on our final tour of Corfu. We have enjoyed the extra time we had here. It turns out we needed it.

My other letter that got disposed of was something like this.

We had a great trip with stops in many small towns a villages on the way to Dubrovnik. That is a real old and the old town part is very interesting. We were there about 3 days. The weather kept us there and that was not all bad. The marina is up a river away from town. We cleared the port and started on a 250 mile trip to Corfu. Early on we decided not to go to Italy, so it was sort of straight down the Adriatic. In 24 hours we sailed in the territorial waters of Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Italy and Greece. The last 12 hours were flying downwind into Corfu. We arrived at 6:30 am and it is a glorious sight to arrive beneath the fortress that is out on the point. The marina is complete and comparable to a very fine Calif. marina.

We have somewhat toured Corfu and are indeed more comfortable at the marina. This part of Greece reminds us of Mexico. Many of the buildings are in ill repair and a lot are unfinished.

We have arranged for our boat to be cared for by a local, from the UK, while we are gone. Tomorrow morning at 9 we taxi to the airport and fly to Athens. Later tomorrow we fly to London. After an overnight we leave for Phoenix on Sunday morning. It will be good to arrive in AZ.

Until then,
Frank and Kathy
