Dubrovnik, Croatia
Friday, November 3, 2000

We finally arrived in Dubrovnik yesterday. It has been a great trip but no access to mail facilities. We are glad to be here. The US George Washington was in town until this morning, they now head for Trieste. That means that this town now closes for the end of the tourist season. We have had the same thing happen to us in earlier stops. We would arrive just after the end of tourist season. Some of the places we have visited, Umag, Porec, Pula, Veruda, Ilivek, Havar, Rogozinca, St. Klement, Korchula. We are getting to where we can pronounce the words.

We have just changed the breakin oil and filled with diesel for the trip across the Adriatic towards Italy. We intend to leave tomorrow and sail all night to arrive off the coast of Italy about daybreak. We then intend to sail parallel to the coast for 40 or 50 miles and then head straight for Greece. We have changed plans and now intend to leave the boat in Prevesa. This is about 30 miles south of Korfu and is reported to be a more pleasant place.

The boat is certainly comfortable as some of you will experience some day. The aft cabin is great and Lee is saying that the fore peak is also very nice. Kathy is liking the arrangement of the kitchen very much. The country is fantastic. It is green as a gourd and the water is the most clear of any water any of us has ever seen. You can actually see the bottom in 30 feet. The town quays are different also, It is possible to tie to the quay and be in 15 feet of water. I have successfully tied stern to, Med style, twice. I have a lot to learn but it is really not crowded so it is easy to do.

We are going to walk the town wall this afternoon. The streets of Dub.. are paved with marble and look slick enough to be in a Johnson Wax advertisement. It is a beautiful city.

We will write again when we get to Greece.

Love from us,

Frank and Kathy
